Awesome shots! Love the comparison with a strawberry, Really gives you sense of size or that there lack of :)
I wonder why these are called japanese beetles? I mean everyone in America calls those beetles "japanese beetles", but I have yet to see them here lol
(SORRY, I meant cherries! lol! Dont know what I was thinking! LOL)

cherries are sakurambo not strawberries lol :)
strawberries are ichigo
But in Japanese there are way too many english words used improperly. lol
Just showed my wife, she loved your shots as well, though she said "it looks too real" Thats a good comment, I think :P

those beetles are smaller than I thought then - I assumed they were like Cockchafers. Great shots, well done. What was the BG for the last one - is this clever processing?

This is in answer to Livinthalife's query about the naming for this beetle
Quote from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_beetle
"As the name suggests, the Japanese beetle is native to Japan. The insect was first found in the United States in 1916 in a nursery near Riverton, New Jersey. It is thought that beetle larvae entered the United States in a shipment of iris bulbs prior to 1912 when inspections of commodities entering the country began."
Apparently natural predators keep the bug in-check in its original environment, therefore does not reach pest proportions.
Quite glad we don't get them here in the UK :)

I assumed they were like Cockchafers...
while on the subject of name origins, do I want to know where that name comes from?

thanks for all the complements
as for the backround, it is a plain sheet of paper, no "clever processing" was used
