Although I haven't had to do it yet, I know the time will come sooner or later. So I searched and found the following three earlier threads on this topic, in no particular order:

http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=15662

http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14094

Also, this link from my collection of links, although it may have been mentioned in the above threads somewhere:

Any newer info or different experiences?

Regards,

Excellent page there Roger! That says it all in one spot. Having used almost all the methods you describe there, and having purchased Eclipse solution and pec-pads, I'll offer myn experience that you always try blowing off the sensor-filter first before using any other methods.

I have only had to use the pec-pad/solution method once on my D60 and never (yet) on the 10D, but it's not as scary to clean as some play it up to be. Just follow directions and it'll be fine.

Seems kinda weird at first sticking all these objects in your ultra-expensive camera, but it's really not all that bad. You're cleaning glass.

I'd also avoid sending it to Canon if you can. My D60 took two trips to get repaired properly and they ended up replacing the sensor filter.

Do not use canned air. Good luck.

Any suggestions for sources of Eclipse solution? National Camera in Minneapolis doesn't carry it, and B&H won't ship it.

And they take phone calls. Be sure and ask for the digital store as they have two stores across the street from each other. Great people there. Store is based in Seattle. They ship same day.
