I went to the ballpark last night intending to shoot only the starting pitchers then one time through the batting order so all I took was 2 GB of CompactFlash. Low and behold the game was a slug fest with both teams batting around in the first couple of innings. Neither starting pitcher made it beyond the second inning either and I almost ran out of memory media before I ran out of good light :( I doubt that I'll make that planning error again anytime soon. Here's some of the stuff I got -- EXIF data is embedded and all were shot with a 300mm f/2.8 IS.

You know Jerry that's a good way to force yourself into thinking about composition and shot selection instead of just firing at everything. Nice shot of Harvey coming out of the box. Tough loss for the Cubbies today, Prior had a no hitter going into the 6th and the Dustaroo pulled him for a 103 pitch count. Rusch came in and gave up the game in the 10th.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I got back home after a four game road trip last night and three were noon start times in the Florida heat -- needless to say this old man's shattered. I tried a new MO this trip and I suppose it fits this "Live and Learn" topic.

I usually shoot all 9 innings of day games and that means standing for about three hours. In the second game of this road trip it dawned on me that the only reason I was still on the field after the 6th inning or so was to shoot pinch hitters and relief pitchers since I more than likely already had pics of all the starters. When I saw several empty seats behind the backstop, I moved to one of them and shot through the net. I was still in the sun, but I was sitting down and I had a net between me and foul balls ;) . I've not looked at the stuff I got shooting through the net, but if it's any good I'll probably employ this MO in future games when I get the chance.

Chris - Harvey set a new FSL record when he hit four home runs in the game against Clearwater last night -- and the last one was a walk off homer that gave the Cubs a 10 - 9 win.
