Hello since some time I see a strange grey/black dot (about 2 mm) on all my photos in the same corner/place. I use a Canon 1D with several lenses, it happens with all lenses, 28-135 as also 75-300.

I used some dustcleaner and air to clean the camera without succes.

To my knowledge it is not possible for dust and such to enter into this camera body as it is sealed. I used the CCD cleaner option which is in the camera setup menu.

Anyone has any tips, (beside go to Canon repair, I think I go to them to give the camera a check.)?

Sounds like dust on your sensor, read the manual about how to properly use the sensor clean function and use a manual blower (no brush) to try to remove the dust. From what I understand never use canned air and DO NOT touch the sensor directly. You should be able to see the dust on the sensor.

I know there are other ways to clean this so wait for a couple more posts and as a last resort you can take the camera to Canon for a cleaning.

Best of luck,

Darrin

Thanks Darrin, I did as you suggested. my blower is the one you have to squeesh and also I followed instructions in the manual and cleaned the sensor a few times. No luck so far.

thanks anyhow.

Check out this page too: http://www.rogercavanagh.com/helpinfo/09_cleaning.htm

And we just yakked about this in this thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19597

Some dust spots can be pretty stubborn if they have been there for awhile. Another option is to send the camera to Canon, but they're not the sharpest pencil in the box when it comes to cleaning sensors. The service (ot lack thereof) is free if you're within your warranty. If there's a pro shop in your town you might inquire there too.

I don´t know if there´s much difference between the 1D and my 10D. but whenever you change a lens, there is the chance of dust comming into the camera body and onto the sensor.
Most of the time a simple cleaning will be enough. But if that´s not working, then also I don´t know what to do.
Maybe other forum members have more experience with it.

cheers.

Oh I have to say the Canon people in Roosendaal (Netherlands) are very ok. I delivered my 35mm EOS A2E and all my lenses with the request to clean them. They did perfect and sent it all back to me with no note or any charge, even the shipment cost to sent this back to me was not charged.

I will see and try to clean again....

Roger Cavanaugh's page (URL in my post above) explains your options for cleaning your sensor. Doesn't matter what model camera (dSLR) it is. It also doesn't matter what brand either: Canon/Nikon. etc.
