Thanks to antony, jesper, john-t and roumen for their advice. System imaging now ok, stayed with this approach cos budget ~ v low $, images to be shot ~ 10k we expect, and turn-around target time per image is 3-5 secs, to keep all concerned sane . This arrangement fits the bill nicely.
Running Remote Capture (ver 1.1) under Windows 98 2nd edn (and firmware in G1 is ver. 1.1.1).
Problem arising.
G1 initially set to Manual shoot mode and RAW format.
Image ends being taken in Program AE mode and JPG format no matter what mode or format the camera is in.
No software facility to correct this and no way I could find to stop this ignoring/overriding of the camera setting.
Is this a glitch or a designed behaviour of the remote capture link as it is presently configured?
The manuals make no comment about any such restriction on its operation.
