View Full Version : 420ex and Wideangle

My understanding is that the 420ex Speedlite "adjusts" to the focal length of the camera. (AutoZoom Feature).

Has anybody figured out how to "fool" the flash when using a wideangle lens. Canon WC-DC58N. I'd like to be able to use the flash reliably at the 24mm (35 EQ) setting.

Taking shots and comparing, it's better than the builtin flash but I still would like it to even better.

TIA

Sorry if the question has been asked before but doing a search didn't enlighten me further.

Like the flash, great improvement.

Ive tried to adjust it but no luck, I end up taking it off shoe and bouncing it off something bright, as firing it as it is tends to *blast* it too much.

I find that in certain situations I get better results using the 420EX off-shoe with and without an Omnibounce in any case. I can manually direct the flash either directly on the subject from the best angle or find the best surface to bounce off.

Of course you will need the offshoe cord for this.
