canon ixus v3 - camera was not found

have a canon ixus v3, xp op system, pc. I'm getting this error message. I also have the same message on my laptop, which is running on windows 2k. I used to download pics on both, no prob, and now for some reason i can't. Anybody got any solutions? I'm a complete idiot with software so please don't assume any prior knowledge. thanks.

Sounds like you don't have the latest/correct camera driver for W2k installed. Look on the Canon or Bebit site.

thanks i'll try that for my laptop, which is on windows 2k, but i'm still stuck with my desktop, which runs on xp/

i downloaded the latest Windows 2k driver from the Canon website and it made no difference
