Pretty uninspired this weekend and not much time to shoot either. Here are a couple of pretty poor efforts from the paltry half dozen shots I took.
First plays on personal space. Home can be both sanctuary and prison. That ambivelence is reflected in both the semi Draganized shadow and light feel and the uncertainty about whether you step out of the door onto plush carpet or fall feet first down a deep hole :p
Second is a pair or shoes, or rather two individual pieces of footwear found randomly within 10m of each other. Either there are two one-leg'd guys walking around in bare foot, or two two-leg'd guys hopping around. I dunno what the exact story is. Funny what you find on the streets.

Joayne - Your ideas are along the same track as mine. Just hoping I can get what is in my mind's eye onto the CF card.:)
Condyke - First I wish I had Cat's stash of smiley Icons to show how amused I was with your explanation. (You missed the two p's in happy;) ) I'm digg'n your off set pair of shoes.
Sari - Purple is my favorite color nice shot of the flower with very nice bokah. Beautiful eyes on Kaed, you might want to get a couple more puppies in case this one gets lost.:) It only took a one time misplaced pup for my niece and her husband to go out and buy five more duplicates, just in case.

Sari, your niece is just precious! That's a great pic.
MeatyO, the one of the fence peeker is adorable, and the second shot is very creative.
Beth, is your dog part Chow? I noticed he (or she?) has a black tongue. Looks like a real cutie!
Tommy, lovely shots as usual! I love the Parrots!

Well folks, results from today's outing were minimal, but fun while it lasted. well, except for breaking down well outside of town in 100+ degree temps. ouch!
Glad the 30 is going back tomorrow. The oddities of its metering as well as the hair/crack in the viewfinder are more than I can deal with. New one should be here by weeks end, I hope.
This is 1 frame from a burst of 3; 2 were so underexposed that I could pull no detail from them. This one, is the frame middle of the 3, background is blown seriously. I do not feel like replacing the background . apologies to you and the subject.

Yeah it was a blast getting it, but frustrating from day 1 with that hair/crack thing and the weird light issue. I have actully been talking to a few 30d folks who are having the same issue. Even the really good and experienced digital users I know have a hard time getting a good shot out of it. B&H is being dreamy, though.

My return with them went flawlessly. No questions asked. Quick replys, often within minutes....
BeccaNH: Nice PUP Ted really looks a bit Puffed and love the girls. Very Pretty colors...Yes that is a black fridge...if I have it to do over, I would rethink it, very high maintence. I am not one that needs high maintence appliances...
Tommy: I love that Prairie Dog. His little hands look like flute playing hands.
and Beautiful macaws....I saw the Africa thread that Dave started...Hmmmm.
Makes me want to make plans..
Beth: That is a close up...That blue tongue is really eye catching. OUr neighbors have Chows..Red and Black. Interesting dog...:)
75: Beautiful shot...Love that. Home delivery for beer.....:D Fill it up with ice and ....get the party started..

Joayne- Nice magnet. Are you a collector?
Dave- The personal space seems pretty drab. Fits you quite nicely, I say.:D
Sari- Is that a purple peony or pansy?;) And the second could be puppy dog eyes on that little one.
Paul- That first shot is great. Just everything about it. And the collection of items was a great idea. Did you make the pancake specifically for this theme?
Becca- Those little girls are simply adorable.
Tommy- I had a feeling you were going to go back and get the prairie dogs when you mentioned the letter P for this week. And the birds look almost identical, same pose, colors, stare, stance...just great.
Beth- Those teeth look very clean for a dog. You must take very good acre of them.
75D- An unusual planter indeed.
Skrim- Congrats to your parents. May they have many more.
wu- I recognize that lens. Sorry to hear about your 30D. Look at it this way, you get the anticipation again this week.:D
Becky- I am not much for pickled stuff but they look like nice decorations.:) The paint pic is a wonderful show of color.
backlot- Welcome to the forum and our Photo Day. Good job getting shots for this week and we look forward to seeing more in the future.
This past week or two has been very hot and trying to get out and shoot has been nearly impossible. I was thinking about what I could shoot this weekend when my friend Kyle asked me if I would come over and take some pics. His family was in town from New York to see his new baby. If you remember they were induced the same time as Becky's son was. I didn't get any pics at the hospital. He was born 3 weeks early and this is only my second time taking shots for someone else but here are two that I particularly liked.

Yes, I will enjoy the anticipation. It should get there on Friday (got my tracking number handy so I can watch the progress .) If I am lucky the new baby will go out before they close for sabbath. I'm thinking Monday, or more likely, Tuesday I'll have another new toy. :D:D

As usual with such a broad theme we've had a really nice range of subject matters. :) Great work all! I'm fashionably late (as usual), and the photos aren't the best, but heck, at least I'm contributing.
Some of you know I'm volunteering for two weeks during the European Athletics Championship. On Friday I got my accredition and the first photo is of the Puma gear I got. We have to wear the clothes, but of course they're all in French sizes so many complained about the sizes. Let's just say I can easily wear the top, but I'd prefer it to be a size bigger for comfort. The trousers? Ehm, yeah, so I admit gaining weight, but seriously, they'd been tight anyway! Geesh. I can wear them, but hopefully I can get someone to change with me. The shoes and water bottle were nice though. :D
The second image is from Saturday's kick-off where they had some men holding speeches, a couple of comedians improvising sketches and also Jeerk, which is a percussion and rythm group of performers from Gothenburg.

Tommy - Cute critters, been awhile since I've seen prairie dogs in their natural habitat, they sure are fun to watch. The Macaws (parrots) certainly are an indentical pair.
Beth - What a nice face on your Chow.
75D - Cool planter, I really like it with the individual pots and the rocks filling in the spaces.
Skrim17 - Very nice portrait of your parents.
Wu - Beautiful lens, hope your replacement lives up to your expectations. Glad to hear B&H is treating you right.
Backlot - Welcome to the forum, great interpretation on the theme.
Mike - Only pickled stuff I like is olives and cucumbers (dill pickles), these two bottles were home grown and made several years ago, before photography took over my hobby time:lol: Cute little baby, you even got him to smile, looks like a red head?
Claire - I hope you can trade for clothing that fits comfortably, glad the shoes are the right size, nothing worse than being on your feet all day in shoes that don't fit. Hope you get some great shots during your venture, sounds like fun even though you will have a lot of work to do, also.
Cat - I need your smiley Icon stash, you have me cracking up what did you do go to the P's in Webster's? I really like the latern shot, very moody. (PS, note the new avatar, best way I could think of to post the generation picture Curtis N took last week :) )

Some very nice contributions from everyone. I've done lots of shooting the past few weekends, but little to do with the theme of the week. This week was a little different, and I was actually able to work with the theme.
First -- Pitching Prospect.

Second -- the result of a Passed Ball. Catchers on both teams were having a tough time holding onto the ball. This player was actually able to go first to third on the passed ball while the catcher tried to find the ball.

In2Photos. Doubt I'll be able to find someone to change with. Did I mention the trousers are quite thin? Ah,there's three reasons I never wear white/beige trousers; easily dirty, not exactly figure flattering & see-through...
At least I bought good undies & lets all hope it won't rain, or Gothenburg will be full of men & women with wet see-through trousers...LMAO

I'm here too. But I'll be off in Tucson visiting the folks this weekend... and they get a bit annoyed with me if I spend more time shooting than I do visiting. :) Also... not sure I'll be able to get online with their set up.

I am completely unfamiliar with any kind of compositions or ideas to shoot for that theme.. Just don't really know where to go with it.. if somebody could give me some tips or advice i'd be willing to give it a try....any other suggestions?
I Googled on "Trick Photography" in images. There are plenty of ideas there, some are done in PP but there are several where the composition creates the illusion. If you all want to take a look, maybe we can do this on another weekend.
Play and Doorway will definetly fit into my weekend plans.:D

still life
entrances and exits (as a composition or as an action)
macro
play
Inspired by-as in a song, other photo, poem movie, story etc.. that inspired you to shoot....
sari.
I like all/any of these Sari. We could all do a "Flashback" to the beginning with your original challenge...i.e.
take a picture of a road... any road
take a picture of a fastfood spot
take a picture inside a gas station
take a picture of the name of your town
take a photo inside a store window
These aren't on the unused list either, but I suppose they could be recycled.

:) I also like the idea of going back to the beginnings.
I'm going to be on vacation this weekend though...so that might limit me a bit. But I could make it work.
Whatever you all decide on will be fine and dandy with me. As long as I know by Friday. ;) :) :) :) :) :)

One of them, two of them, or ALL of them. Sari, you have experience with these; was it too difficult to get them all? Can we post more than two? If so, should we make them smaller images?

It does sound like fun. Some themes I'm not sure what I'd shoot. Right off the bat I know exactly what I'd shoot for most of these.

I'm still here too. But once again life got in the way so I couln't play last weekend. And I probably won't be able to go out & play this weekend either. So I'll keep quiet about suggestions for this weekend. But I'll still enjoy reading your posts! (Even if I do have dialup, and it takes a week to read. Actually, considering the rural area my home is in, I consider myself lucky to have any connection at all.)

How about just taking as many as you can get? If it is 1, 2, or more doesn't matter. If you have more than 2 you could always make them smaller and place them on one canvas for uploading.

the whole experiment took maybe an hour probably a little less.. and I think that we should try to get as many of them as we can...

Hm,
"...inside a store window". Does that mean I'll have to stand in the window & take a shot of the display or people outside?

I think this is the first time I've ever had to write down the assignment in order to remember it, LOL.
I'm off to Bryce Canyon this weekend, and hopefully will be able to get a decent shot of everything on the list. I'm looking forward to it. :) Have a great weekend all!

inside a gas station is kinda weird, I mean I pull up to a pump and then leave, is that considered 'in' the gas station??
