Very nice shots. :) I saw some mating damselflies last Sunday, but was not able to fit them all in the frame because all I have with me was the MPE65 :(

beautiful exposure/detail, especially like the full shot ie #1
Completely irrelevant but watched some Canada geese kill a duckling on the pond at work today - mother Tufted duck unable to defend. Never seen that behaviour before, most distressing ; its not as though they were even squabbling over food.Oh well, she has eight more chicks.

Thanks RM,
Odd behaviour of the geese. :( . I've seen ducks attacking an injured adult and also seen pike taking ducklings (just disappears in a swirl of water).

Love the last one, you sure got real close from what it looks like to get that great of a detail.

Lovely series Brian, my fave is the 2nd last shot, the coloured background bokeh just really suits the colours of the damselfy.

Excellent as always. I'm still flabberghasted by your complete lack of noise. Looks like I have some homework to do.

Thanks Dave- that shot was a bit of luck the damesl fly was sitting on a spar of a sunshade so I got an odd angle and an interesting background :)

Thanks Mospin, I'd guess the damsel was about 7cms from the front of the lens in that last shot

There's no such thing as luck Brian - your images are down to hard work and learning to anticipate the insects. You cannot simply keep getting outstanding images by luck only - one here or there yes, but not consistent high quality images.

AB hadn't really thought about the noise bit although I dislike pic noise intensely. The first 3 shots are all 300D ISO400 natural light. One thought is that I never use the save for web options so my reduced size pics are still high quality (100%) jpgs.

another excellent series.
yes, it has got to to with the hands that hold the camera and the eyes that sees the image...in this you're the master.

Wowzers. Having a hard time picking a favorite. I think it's the last one though - looks like it's giving you evils.
Very nice.
