Modeling Flash & Test Flash

I just pick up the 580EX for my 30D.

Anyone can explain what is the usage for Modeling Flash(C.Fn-06), Test firing(C.Fn-09) & (C.Fn010)? Do they help or affect the flash metering? Thanks!

The don't affect metering, they just let you preview before the flash goes off. Not sure about the exact CFs, never even looked at them on my 580.

Both just use more battery power so I tend to leave them all off. The modelling flash might be useful in a multiple flash wireless setup but eveb then I doubt if the strobing effect would really let you see whats happening.
