Anyone else have a problem with their scanners stop working after installing the Canon drivers for their cameras? I haven't had to use the scanner since around November, when I got my camera, but the other day I went to use it and it isn't found by the system at all. I removed all the drivers (scanner and camera), resinstalled the scanner drivers, and still couldn't get it to work. I don't know if the scanner died, or installing the Canon drivers hosed it. Anyone else have a like problem?

I don't have a fix but did just write up how I fixed somewhat the reverse problem. See the Powershot G2 forum, the thread on "Connecting to PC" (currently the second topic down). Here's a link that may work...

Thanks, I will give it a shot when I am back home. Traveling for business right now.
The only thing good about traveling for business is after hours with my camera. ;-)

The same thing happened to me when I installed the Canon software for the D-30, my Canon scanner refused to be recognized, however after an hour or so of total confusion, I shut my computer down, and when I restarted the computer I could hear my scanner click on, afterwards it worked fine. I am having a problem however with the Canon zoombrowser, which is absolutely refusing to let me download any of my pictures from the camera even though the thumbnails pop right up when I turn the camera on and click aquire. I'm sure the answer in here somewhere, and I'll keep looking for it.

I had the initial problem of my computer not "seeing" my D30. I also had G1 and Canon scanner software installed before I purchased the D30. Never a problem until the D30 entered the equation.
Bottom line: My computer had Win98 upgrade from Win95. Canon says this is a no-no. It must be a system with Win98 or above installed originally. Also, I could not have my scanner plugged in when I used the usb for the D30. Also, after installing D30 my card reader would not work.>:(
The only solution has been to attach the D30, re-boot the computer, and it works fine until I shut down. What a pain! My kids used to say, "This is the 90's Dad!". I say, "This is the new millinium Bill Gates, let's solve the small stuff!".
I have recently purchased a system with WinXP and the problems have gone away, entirely. But at what cost? I didn't realize what a "consumer" was until I started consuming. I'm afraid they have my number.
