I like the subject. If it were my picture, I would do a ton of local darkening/brightening to bring up what I like and play down what I don't. For example, all of the hot white areas (which, because they are white are grabbing my eye) are of no interest to me. I would do whatever it takes to get them reduced.
On the other hand, parts that interest me, such as the toothed blade on the very right edge, and the incoming rods in the upper left are so bland that they are only found if you look for them.
I also don't care for the rough-edge frame effect with this picture, but that is a matter of personal preference.
As I said at the top, I like the subject. Definitely worth working on. The contrast of the rather violent looking machinery with the organic/once-living, gnarly, massive tree trunk, along with the moodiness of the scene are all very good.
