The first photo was adjusted via RawShooter Premium and output for the normal Photoshop adjustments _ the second is a exposure blend done with Photomatix Pro and cloned the tree out via Photoshop.
I'm not the best at this by any means so any opinions we'll be appreciated and thanks for looking.

Great shots!
I like the added impact in the edited version. The tree was an important 'anchor'. I would not have removed it. Landscapes beg for anchors to enhance the illusion of depth and distance. But with or without an anchor, your image is a winner.

i'm no critique but i agree with the first comment about the anchor, i hadn't noticed the relevance until was mentioned. the edited image reminds me of a scene from LOTR with hordes of orkes marching on helmes deep. I'd put it on my living room wall! :D

Thanks a lot guys _ I've got about 30 of these shots but only one where the clouds broke through and allowed Half Dome to be exposed. I'll work up one later with the tree back in it.

lol Jay _ I'll take that as a compliment.
Here's one from 17mm only slightly cropped on the left side as I believe the other was at 40mm.

This one needs to have the tree in the middle removed. It makes me feel the same as I do when at a concert and the people in front of me stand up and block my view. The tree branches being used as a frame on the right border also work as the anchor.
Great image. You did good.

So what pill was it? LSD or speed?
Before the pill/after the pill.
No offence. The picture itself is good. Just the colors are unnatural.

I agree that it looks unnatural. Looks too photoshopped.

No problem as thats why I posted it in this section is for input. Since most others comments are on the positive side what exactly in the colors is not to your liking.
I saw your posted inquiring about getting a colorimeter tool so maybe I'm seeing something you aren't since calibrating my monitor ...
This actual scene was very dark and overcast as it had been raining and suppose too I should add a polarizer was attached to the lens.
Thanks for the comment ... ;)

I did not mean it in a negative way.
Most of the HDR images don't look natural, especially with the partial contrast adjustments. They starting to look "trippy"...
That's the best I can explain.
EDIT: Maybe the contars range is way too great and actually exceeds that of the eye. You do need some black areas in it... I think.

Obviously, the second is much more dramatic. very nice. I think inspiration point is one of the most inspiring sights in the world. every climbed the hill behind it?
one thought. not a detraction, but just something to think about and consider. the second is very dramatic. however, i think the clouds may be just a little too dramatic in that they attract the eye of the viewer. when viewing the picture, my eye was drawn to the clouds first, and the valley is where the subject focal point should be. just something to consider. great stuff!
edit:
by the way, you did a VERY good job of clearing up the haze in the valley!

Bluedog, I really like the last shot, definitely my favorite. If the foreground looked less artificial, I think I would like it more. Is it the coloring or too much sharpening? I don't know. All I know is that I continually enjoy your posts from your trip to Yosemite.

Thanks and yea we hiked up to Artist Point which is above the tunnel view parking area to the right but as you can see the weather wasn't in our favor at the time.
This is all very good input as I posted I'm not an expert by any means ... just a working learning amateur.
