I just received a powershot sd700is and in playing with it today I can't seem to get the auto rotate to work. I previously had a sd550 and it rotated great in playback mode so that when I turned the camera vertical the image would flip. I have autorotate turned on in both shooting and playback modes. I've literally only had the camera for a couple of hours now and the best I can figure is that the internal battery needs to charge more for the orientation sensor to work properly. It's starting to drive me crazy as I just acquired and already found something wrong. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Also, thanks for having me on your forum, hope to be around in the future.

Hmmm...did you not fully charge up properly the first time?

Mine works fine

I just opened the box and put the battery in. what i was talking about with the charge was the cameras internal battery that stores info like the date and time. In the manual it says that the internal battery takes four hours to fully charge the first time. Should I have not used the camera before those four hours? don't think it should matter.

i'm not sure about how it messes with the processor, but the general rule of thumb for conditioning these kinds of rechargeable batteries (cellphones, cameras, etc) is to charge it for numerous hours (i charge mine overnight) before use, and then drain them down to nothing..literally let the camera's battery die off with use, then charge it to full. Do that maybe 2 or 3 times and your battery should be "conditioned". Whether or not this has made a dramatic impact on the life of my stuff I can't quite confirm, but my stuff lasts quite a long time, and anything helps I guess.

Good luck!
