Hi Gang,
Have been taking a few pics lately..mostly outside and continue to enjoy my A40 camera and am still delighted in the picture quality when reviewing pictures mostly on my computer and e-mailing them in spite of the A40 camera becoming rapidly dated. Would like to purchase a wide angle lens as I find a perpetual need to capture a broader field than my standard lens covers without backing way off and losing picture quality.
I notice that there are a number of aftermarket lenses out there. Am I better served to spend a bit more for
a Canon name brand wide angle lens? Also I take an occasion macro shot which seems to be the weak link on these cameras. Should I look for a lens kit which includes a wide angle and macro lens separately?
Is this a better value?
Thanks for any recommendations.
George

I purchased the less expensive ‘Titanium’ model of the lenses for my Canon A40 and after testing returned both to 47th Street Photo for a store credit. I found them to be too soft for my uses, but would be OK for many 4x6 prints. Here are the test photos:

I now have an A70 and use the same Canon WC-DC52 that I purchased for my A40.

IMHO any brand of close-up lenses work well, with the A-40 you do need to stack the sets them together to get enough magnification. I did not test the two part lens on the ‘Titanium’ lens, but I think it would be fine.
