Sometimes I use powershovel to convert RAW files. Today, to my big surprise, I noticed that powershovel output files have dimensions 2312x1720 pixels instead of usual 2272x1704. I don't think that there is an option to resample images in powershovel. Where did the extra pixels come from?

Can I ask what settings (workflow) you use to convert RAW files in Powershovel II with the G3? I downloaded the program but I found it difficult to use. Any help?

I have G2 and, as far as I know, powershovel is fine tunned for G2, so the results with G2 are may be better than with G3.

Regarding the settings, I cannot say anything specific. I use powershovel only in cases when I need to convert an image with highlights being close to overexposed. Powershovel is better than other converters with highlights. However, the output always needs a lot of postprocessing with photoshop.

I use VNG or VNG+Bilin methods, CrefLUT1212lin_xlp3.tif lookup table, "keep highlights" option on. Try to play with red and green settings.

Are your output files also 2312x1720 pixels?

Powershovell use the full CCD data, so the output is bigger that the canon raw converter (the 6 outermost pixels)!

The VNG interpolator is very good (better than canon), more details!

The shadows details and highlights are better.
I always use the neutral creftlut in linear mode.
I made a profile for the G3, mail me if you want the profile!

The only problem is the white balance, you must do the white balance manually as the very first step as it could not be read from the G3!

Hey Marcel,

I'd love to try out your G3 Powershovel profile! Any idea how one can provide an email address on this forum without posting the address for the entire web to see?
