Hi Pekka,
I like your EE everyday more ;)

I know, that you are not finnished with iptc-support.
But you pointed out, that a search for description OR keywords in possible in Beta.

But when I search for example for the key "Stuhl" in the keywords, EE finds nothing. When I search with the same key in description, EE finds the image.
The word "Stuhl" is of course in both, description and keywords.

Also the description is displayed under the image, but not all keywords.

I want not press you in any way, I ask only, because you said, that keyword search is possible (and together with description and supplemental categories, this is the most important iptc-field) in this Beta. I know, that you will add categories later.

The link for this image with iptc and key "Stuhl" is:

http://www.al-capone.ch/gallery/photo.php?photo=201&lang=ger

BTW: when you are thinking about including "Supplement categories", then it could be an idea to "link" all this suppl. cats to the categories in EE. This would be simply great, because often these infos are already in images (when working with iptc), and this "flowing" into the same categories would be a great timesaver.
Just an idea to think about it ;)

Thanks for a great product
Markus

Hi,

No, you do not seem to have assigned any keywords for that image. They are entered in photo editor "Meta keywords" area, and added also on upload if IPTC data is there.

Perhaps you mistake keywords for "categories". They are a separate data item!

You can see keywords when you select listing type "Info Cards": as example, go to http://www.photography-on-the.net/gallery/list.php and search keyword "model", now switch to info card ouput.

Also the description is displayed under the image, but not all keywords.

I'm planning on adding keywords to that display. Also global keyword list (all keywords combined to one selection list).

Ok, I'll think of it soon ;)

Hi Pekka,
Thanks for your answer.

I use iptc every day and in my images is filled out EVERY field, categories, additional categories, keywords and all others.
I doublechecked the image and at least this image, what I have sent, had keywords.

Is there a limitation? Because I have A LOT of keywords (usually 20 - 60), could this be the problem? Or are there restrictions like spaces in keywords? I use the definition from www.iptc.org.

I will try today to add several images with different keywords to thest that.

Thanks, Pekka!
Markus

Hi Pekka,
I did some more tests.
From my point of view, something is wrong with the iptc-keywords; or I do it completely false.

I created the same image with 4 different names and different keywords:

comparison.jpg with 1 keyword
comparison1.jpg with 5 keywords
comparison2.jpg with 7 keywords
comparison3.jpg with a lot of keywords (ca 50)

All had different keywords and also a different caption. All had the keyword sky in it
Therefore I could search for sky and the result was correct: 4 image found.

Then I switched in the listing type "info cards" and the different caption were correct, BUT NOT the different keywords, they were mixed somehow.
This means, the image with 1 keyword has 5 keywords, the one with 7 keywords has a LOT of keywords and so on.

It seems, that the keywords are mixed up. I did a second test with another image, and it was the same.

What could be the problem?

Markus

I tried to reproduce your problem, but I could not. I uploaded 4 photos and named them "4 XXX", "32 XXX" based on last keyword (see screen shot). I copied those photos to second exhibition and added few keywords and updated names to same system. It all lined up perfectly (technically there is no possibility to get them mismatched)

Please send me a dump of the database which has this problem of yours "active" and explain exact steps how to reproduce it.

Thanks for your mail.

I went to your site, re-installed EE Backup (it was not installed properly), did a backup dump with it, spend half an hour debugging the IPTC problem, found and fixed the problem, added it into 1.5 beta 5 Fix Pack 1, updated your site to EE 1.5 beta 5 Fix Pack 1, tested that the site, upload and fix works, and did one backup for you with current database.

I also added some empty items in database (photographers, locations, camaras) to push speed up a bit.

Yep. All bugs in EE are to be considered totally my fault. But before they are found and proven to be bugs they are always user errors :D

(just kidding)
