I am having a problem using a SanDisk 512 Meg CF card in my wife's D60. The card works fine in our 10D and our cardreader also reads and formats the card. I also have formatted it without problem in the 10D.
However, when I insert the card into the D60 the camera signals "CF error," "Error 02" and finally "Error 99." If I go into the menu to try to format the card in the D60, the LCD shows that the card has only about 73 M available, with 72.9 M used. These may not be the exact numbers because I don't have the card or camera here with me at the office.
I used Photorescue to recover the files on the card, but that still didn't help with the D60.
Has anyone had a problem like this? Any suggestions for a fix (other than limiting the card's use to the 10D)? The card is a regular 512 (not Ultra).

How about some basic troubleshooting?
You verified that the card worked good in other devices, so that means that the problem is probably not the card.
How about trying another card in the same camera? If the new card fails in a similar fashion, then you know the camera is at fault.

Have you tried to format the card in the D60? The 10D uses fat 32 while D60 uses plain fat fileformat.

I have tried formatting the card in the D60 without success. The formatting window gives a false value for both the space available on the card and the space used. The formatting process appears to begin, and then the screen goes blank and the status display on the top of the camera flashes "Error 99."
The D60 does work with other CF cards, including a 128M SanDisk and another brand 256M. No problems.
Finally, I did format the 512M card that is giving the D60 problems using windows -- once using FAT32 and a second time just plain "FAT." Both times the card produced the same error messages when inserted into the D60.
I've tried everything I can think of. Any other ideas? For now I guess I'll just give up on using this card in the D60. I can still use it in the 10D.
Thanks for all suggestions. This is a wonderful forum which has taught me a great deal, but I guess it can't solve all the world's Canon camera problems. If the worst thing I have to deal with is an uncooperative 512M CF card, I suppose I can't complain too much.

as a last resort try either the shop you got it from or sandisk themselves, if its under waranty then they would probably exchange it without question.

Well, I finally got the CF to work in the D60. It seems that the solution was to seat it firmly in the slot. Once I did that, it worked fine. Of course, first I reformatted the card about a dozen times both in the PC and in my other camera. Live and learn. Thanks for the suggestions. If anyone else ever has this problem, though, I recommend making sure the card is fully inserted into the camera slot and that all of the pins are making contact with the card. Of course, if your problem is a bent pin, my solution won't help. Good luck!
