Heya,

I'm going to a concert tomorrow and I'm wondering what I'd need more.. the flexibility of a zoom (24-70EX) or the speed of the prime (50/1.8 ). I'm shooting with a 300D so it's high ISO performance is crummy at best but I have no problems with using ISO3200 (hacked) then noise reducing it. As long as I expose well.

I'm actually going to a festival and today I got quite close (didn't bring camera though, killing myself for that) so 50/1.8 would be good. But I'm afraid I wont get the "whole" band just single members.

Rock concert.

Thoughts? Is f/2.8 fast enough?

Good morning, Kev. See my BCC threads (6 threads total) in the Performing Arts forum. Many of those shots were taken with my 16-35 f2.8L. I used that and my 50 1.4 for all the shots. I think you'll be fine with your 24-70L. Be advised that you'll have to bump the ISO significantly and shoot wide open to get the shots you want. f/2.8 is pushing it, but I think you'll be fine.

Hey Lord_Malone, those shots are WICKED! I'll be using my 24-70 (it's an EX, not L unfortunately haha... ). I'll stick it to ISO3200 and see what my shutter speeds are with f/2.8. hehe. thanks!
