I just dug out the infrared remote control RC1 of my 15 years old EOS 10 (named EOS 10S in the US) and it works (even with the original batteries)!
I love that little thing! I don't have to wait 10sec for the self timer to fire anymore. 2sec or zero delay!
Okay, you could also buy a new RC5...
