Does anyone have a preference on a monitor calabrating tool, ie, SpyderPro etc? Looking for advice on a system to get the color accurate on the monitor before printing.

I use Monaco OPTIX. Seems to work fine.

I use Monaco OPTIX XR Pro, which gives great results on my 8 bit S-IPS Dell 2005FPW. The non Pro version is close, but the Pro version has some extra features that I find useful.

Obviously, you'll get more accurate results with a hardware style calibration device, but you can get decent results just using software calibration. I use Adobe gamma within PSE3, and with my ip8500 get prints that match my monitor just fine.

I second the Gretag Macbeth Eye One.
B&H has it on sale with the psmay code:

I did an informal poll in this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=196318)to see what people here use as I plan on buying one soon.

EyeOne 2. Does a great job. Bought after much research, but I think they will all do a decent job.

I've heard some bad things about the spyder, but don't really own a colorimeter yet.

First, I have to admit I am biased...if you are considering other than a hardware calibration method, you want to check out this review.

First, I have to admit I am biased...however if you are considering visual calibration as opposed to hardware calibration method, you want to check out this review.

That's a bit too intense for me. LOL
Give me an idea though... you don't have to measure the screen...

I'm using a "huey" check it out at:- http://www.pantone.com/products/products.asp?idArea=2&idProduct=103
I'm getting great results and its cheaper then other hardware solutions, I think its good value for money.
I bought mine second hand of eBay, these kind of things don't usually go wrong.

I use the finest product around- my own eyes. I do it with the help of Adobe gamma as well!

I've found 0 problems with the Spyder2Express. Colors are right on the dot when I make prints.
Impressive for a cheap sensor with limited controls.
