Need lens advice for a 350D

I bought a new Rebel XT a week ago and I just bought a CF tripod/ballhead, Canon 200DG bag, a few bats. and a 50 f1.8 mark 2 :lol: Oh, and a remote shuter release switch...

So now that I got all of this I am faced with a problem... I cant decide on my next lens :confused: I either want a tele 300mm+ Or a decent micro lens. Now my budget is $400 - $500 max and the IQ must be sharper then the stock kit lense!

Any sugestions?

I have a Sigma 17-70 which is a great lens, ive been looking at the Sigma 70-300 (the cheapy one) but the clarity isnt great, but then to get any better would cost 4 or 5 times as much!

At the moment im sticking to just my 17-70, ive tried the Canon 55-200 on my 350D, it was pretty good but nothing really stunning, I think you need to spend as much as you can on a 300mm lens, the cheap end lacks clarity.

I have the simga 70-300 and I like it..I still want to get closer but it is nice! I think it is a very good lens for the price...I still dream of the *L* lenses and even the IS lenses..right now I can't afford either. On the up side I am learning to hold that lens very steady on my own!

I think that lens will probably be the one I go for in the end, as I couldnt really afford to get a more expensive one, I dont use a telephoto much as I prefer to do landscapes, but it can come in handy, the Sigma certainly is the right price!
