I have been using my PowerShot A40 for the last year to shoot and download pictures with Zoombrowser. Suddenly, I can no longer download and a message comes up saying that no camera is being detected. I tried reinstalling everything. I also cannot view new pictures on the computer, crop them, or enlarge, etc. My sister took my camera, USB cable, etc to her computer, and everything downloaded and worked beautifilly. My sister seems to think that my 4 year old IBM is too old, or that I downloaded or installed something that is messing with Zoombrowser. Any ideas?

What have you changed/installed since the last time it worked? Generally speaking I find that uninstalling software/drivers etc in reverse order and checking whether whatever it is starts working again at each step usually fixes the problem. Now I run XP of course I can often get away with going back to a restore point. Recent problems I have had have been.
Adobe premier screwed up my CD DVD (couldn't burn)
Nokia datasuite locked ALL my com ports inc modem.
Needless to say both have been blown away!

It sounds like you've eliminated most of the possibility's of what could have one wrong here. This leads me to suspect the data cable that connects the camera to your PC may have a broken wire in it. I hope you find the problem soon.
