Hi,

I have read enough positive experiences about using digital cameras in subzero temperatures. I have also last winter used my Canon G2 in -20 degrees of Celsius (you can see many icy pictures in my web site), without any problems. So, I plan to use my 10D also next winter outdoors here in Finland.

But I have not read any experiences about how Canon's IS is working in Subzero Temperatures. I could imagine that gyros might get sticky in -20 degrees of Celsius?? Could they even be damaged permanently?

Any experiences?

Mikael

Hi Mikael!

today I read an article in an german photo magazin. There was a guy who used the 10D and as far as I remember the 70-200 2.8 IS USM in the arctic. He didnt mention any Problems with the camera or the lens. Far from it! He said that he has no problems and that also the 10D and the lenses did a great job.

maybe this helps

there was also a link mentioned: www.polarfoto.com

best regards
Peter
