There have been some links here aboutt he why's & Wherefore's of copyright notices on photos. But I haven't found a thread where people express their views (and maybe even reach a consensus? - NAH!) about how/where to put it.

I had been putting the notice in a corner of my photos, or in a margin I would create around the photo, whether printed or posted. A professional artist friend said I should sign the mat instead when I print, and on photos posted, use a transparent type to put my notice right across the photo I post on web.
But others I've found sign their photos on the mat, or some sign the back of the photo - these all relate to the actual print.
No matter what we do, if someone wants to steal it badly enough, they will.

So esthetically, which is the best way to get a notice on a photo, but still comply with the copyright laws (e.g. © 2006, Name )?
And do you maintain 2 sets of a picture -o one to be printed, and one to be posted, possibly with different notices?
