A question about photo paper:

I will be printing 200-400 panoramic photographs on my Epson 2200. I would like the prints to look great but I want to save the organization I am printing for some money if I can. Obviously Premium Luster would be an ideal choice, but I am wondering whether standard Epson 'Photo Paper' would stand up well without sacrificing too much quality. Does anyone here find that using the UltraChrome inks on regular Epson photo paper achieves satisfactory results?

Thanks in advance,

Z

It's something that Epson recommend you don't do. The inks in the 2100/2200 are not fully compatible with Epson's other papers. I have used some old paper on my 2100 and the results were pretty nasty, (can't remember which paper it was). You may have problems with ink smearing, colours fading etc.

I doubt you'll do any harm to the printer though, so you can give it a go and see if you can get something useable.

This is especially annoying for anyone wanting to use Gloss on these printers as I gather Epson have discontinued their Gloss paper, telling people to use the semi-gloss. Personally I like the Matte for portfolio use, and it's the cheapest :)
