This weekend I went to a drifting competition near Montreal. This race is part of a Canadian drifting championship, Driftmania (http://driftmania.ca/accueil.html?L=1).
It was my first photoshoot with moving cars, and I gave some tries at a few panning shots... :D But my camera and the conditions (plus my novice knowledge) were limiting to me. My stock S2 IS (no filters) and a very sunny sky stopped me to go slower than 1/125 at F8 (even with EV set at -2), else it called for an overexposed result.
I still managed to get these:

Enough with panning (I don't have anymore "good" pans anyways ;) ), here's more regular shots. (Most were set in P mode, too bad because the wheels are frozen in motion... no blur there :( I thought of this back home while sorting the pics on my computer  )

For the sake of 56k users (and to comply with the rules), the balance are linked:
#7 (http://www.jeece.net/photo/driftmania_07-2006/IMG_3232.jpg) Similar to #2. Panning wasn't as successful, but I loved the smoke better on this one.
#8 (http://www.jeece.net/photo/driftmania_07-2006/IMG_3315.jpg)
#9 (http://www.jeece.net/photo/driftmania_07-2006/IMG_3318.jpg)
#10 (http://www.jeece.net/photo/driftmania_07-2006/IMG_3332.jpg)
#11 (http://www.jeece.net/photo/driftmania_07-2006/IMG_3495.jpg) Front wheel lockup.
#12 (http://www.jeece.net/photo/driftmania_07-2006/IMG_3528.jpg) Overtaken from the inside.
#13 (http://www.jeece.net/photo/driftmania_07-2006/IMG_3545.jpg) *cough* *cough*
Canon guys (http://www.jeece.net/photo/driftmania_07-2006/IMG_3484.jpg) were present...
...and took some time to have a break (http://www.jeece.net/photo/driftmania_07-2006/IMG_3501.jpg).
C&C and tips are welcome. I know I have some trouble thinking ahead of the shot (framing, composition and focusing among others), but I'm open to suggestions. :)
