Quick question: Is the ring mount and lens hood included in the 70-200 f4L lens?
What about the 70-200 f2.8 non-IS? Is the ring mount and hood included in the box?
Thanks!

I can't speak for the f/4L version, but they are included in the f/2.8L box. I think that I recall reading at one point the hood is included with the f/4L but not the tripod mount. I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong.
Hope it helps,
Travis
BTW: if you look it up at B&H and hit the tab that says "Item Includes" it will tell you there.

no hood or mount on Canon F4 or 2.8

All L lenses include the hood where as regular EF and EF-S don't. You do not get the tripod collar (I'm guessing that's what you are referring to) on the f/4 but you do get it on the f/2.8 version.

it comes with the hood like all the L's
but the 2.8 is the one that comes with the tripod ring not the f4..you dont need it..the lens is not heavy

yes to both on Sigma 2.8WRONG! All Canon's 70-200s include the hood. They're L,and hood's standard on L. The 70-200 f/2.8 versions both include a tripod mounting ring as well. The 70-200 f/4 doesn't because Canon doesn't consider it an essential for that lens - it's not heavy enough that mounting the camera, rather than the lens, on a tripod will cause excess strain on the mount.

It's pretty amazing how people get off on making sure you know you're wrong around here.

I almost replied the same AA (wasn't reading all the posts) :-)
I never used the carry bag! The f4L does not require the tripod mount as it's not a heavy lens (well not heavy compared to the 2.8L IS)! It's a great lens though. The IS lens is just so much more useful it's worth the extra.

Well, I got the box... and inside the box is the hood and leather bag. End of discussion :)
I'll probably get the f2.8 IS this Christmas and give this to my wife for use with our 300D.
Wife saw the f4L lens... after her surprised remark on how big it is, the next question was "We're still getting the Macro lens, right?" I promised her a Macro for use on her closeups....
Also got a LowePro camera bag, and it's a perfect fit for the f4L. Got my laptop inside the camera bag too.
Good stuff!

I didn't get to that post before I replied, so I apologize for that. However, I resent the assumption that I somehow "got off" on correcting you.

you freak. who "gets off" on correcting people?!
i think this thread is done. it would be great if this place had a wiki. put all the 'unique' questions up in there with the informative responses.
