Just looked at my 70-200 L lens and noticed it has more data contacts then m non-L lenses. 10 compared to 7. Any ideas as to why? If discussed prior, my apologies if it is obvious or discussed before!

The other 3 tell the camera not to blur the image, you indeed did pay $1000 extra and its OKAY to make it look good.

(kidding) lol

Damn, I was hoping you were serious for just a moment considering I could not afford the IS version...(Kidding also) but on a slightly different note, why does it have 2 ranges of focus? 1.2m-Inf. and 3M-Inf.? Why wouldn't any user just keep it on the full range?

if youre shooting something far away you don't need the 1-3m and that helps prevent misfocusing on something right next to you. probably also increases speed as theres less space to hunt.

i believe.

Huge increase in speed and AF hunting.
