I'm picking up a second 10D, and the way I understand the situation, if I swap CF cards between the two bodies, the cameras' counters are always going to set themselves to the higher number. Any thoughts on how to avoid this?

Tom,
The simplest solution would be to avoid swapping the cards between the two 10Ds. May I ask what the relationship is between the two cameras - is one considered a 'spare', or are they used by different photographers simultaneously?
Cheers,
Scott

Either avoid swapping -- but that might be difficult -- or just get into the habit of formatting on the computer after transferring files. Then you'll start with a 'clean' card every time.
My wife shoots our D60 and we just keep separate cards and don't swap. Otherwise, if I was shooting both cameras, I'd develop the format-after-transfer habit. And you have to perform the format on the PC not the cameras.

Can you please elaborate on this.... I might be looking to use this very trick. I want to fool my 10D into numbering starting where my D30 left off (about 3700). Can I somehow insert my CF card with a high numbered image on it and have it start numbering at the higher number?
Thanks!
