Looking for C&C on composition.

Candid shot of my daughter wearing fake Clark Kent-type glasses.

Tech details: 50mm f1.8, bounce flash, PP & color corrected.

Very nice shot. My only critique is that the title of the magazine keeps pulling my eyes away from the subject.

Thanks.

I had 2 variations of this photo. One photo, the comics is in focus while she's blurred.

We both like this shot better. I think it's still obvious that the comics says "Superman" even though blurred.

Maybe if you moved the magazine down a bit and seen a little more of her face?

I agree, sort of. I don't see a need for more of her face per se, but rather, more of her face as a percentage of the shot. So crop some of the bottom and the left so that less of the total shot is not-face.

Also, if you have a chance to re-shoot, have her look at the other page, so she is looking into rather than out of the frame. The space behind her left ear is completely uninvolved with the shot.

PS - Now that I am home from work, this is what I mean. Not intended as a final product, but more of a "proof of concept". I think that this draws the viewer into her eyes, away from the comic book. (We don't need to SEE the whole comic book to know what it is!) Also, by having her look into the frame rather than out, it leads the viewer back into the shot, not out. And finally, The white area was too much of a pull, so I blended some of the orange background over there.

PSS - Just to go over the top, I thought that the orange background was a bad choice to begin with as she gets lost in it because the color blends into her skin. Just for fun, I wondered what would that look like blue?

yes, thats how i see it...the emphasis needs to be more on her, not equal with the book.

RAD, that's cool! Yes, that composition has a much better "flow" if she's looking at the other page.

Thanks all!
