...and you are getting better Jeff, these are very nice shots of the Red shouldred Hawk, noticed you got a good catchlight in the eye. Nice colours too. Seem a little too big for my 17 inch monitor though as I have to scroll horizontally to see the whole image.
Was this shot taken with your 100-400mm Lens? because at 400mm FL you have managed to get quite close to the Hawk.

Thanks Anthony. Yes this was taken with the 100-400L, I can really tell the difference in keepers now. I need to probably watch it when I resize.:) Thanks again.

Very nice shots indeed. I especially like the 2nd one as the wing position is quite nice. What a handsome bird.

I can tell you the more you shoot the better you will become. As for these shots I think they are quite good. One of the hardest things to do with flight shots is to light up the bird in just the right places but you did a great job. Sharpness will come with practice.

Jeff,
I hate to admit it, but you are actually becoming a decent shot with that camera. Maybe you really are a "wildlife photogragher"!!!

Getting the wing position 'right' is more or less down to luck when a bird is flying normally. In your first, for me, the white underwing draws my eye away from the bird, but in the second the wings are 'holding' the bird in place. Well done.

Thanks for the C&C...It is truly appreciated. I think the second shot is the better of the two as well and agree that a lot of luck is involved in shooting action shots.

Quite good shots of a very attractive raptor, very nice catch-light you've caught there too. The point of focus is only slightly off so with a bit more practice you will have captures like this totally rockin. Try to use the eye or breast area your point of focus and/OR to make it easier maybe use a larger aperture to give a little more DoF to play with. Well done and keep at it.
