Hi Guys

I am photographing a traditional Indian wedding this weekend 4hrs from the city so its quite a hike! I have some quick questions...

Its going to be a 5pm wedding, so photo's around 6pm, i have experience with night photography but rarely subjects at night. Would i be best to tilt my flash up with the bounce card, high ISO and maybe a slower shutter to bring in ambient light?

Am i correct in saying this, if so what else can i do, and if not suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance

Del

This is just my take and I know there are much more experienced people on here, but I think in this case I would work with flash if you can. The colors at indian weddings are extremely vibrant and beautiful and I would be afraid that a high Iso and slow shutter dont show it enough... also I feel that with all those colors, noise would be very distrating

With your current lenses, you really can't do no-flash very well ... so crank the ISO, open your lenses as wide as possible and bounce the flash with FEC at -2/3 or so. That should give you nice results ... and shoot a gray card as often as possible so your colours will come out right later.

thanks bpuppy....

I should mention i got notification of my 50mm 1.4 turning up at the post TODAY (YAAAAY!) for my birthday on monday so i guess ill play a bit with that before shooting the wedding too - but my take on that is a lower ISO because of the fast lens....
Ill do what i can, and also do a bit of practice with my hubby and a dark outside with candles etc. (Ive done it ALL before im just not all that confident because its a wedding and your always gonnabe nervous about results arent you?)
