Just getting into photography and figured I'd post a few. Still trying to get some nice launch pics on the top fuel cars. Need to work on the panning because the cars take off so fast. C+C welcome, need to learn all I can...lol

hey nice pics. what kit you using as launch pics are just not possable with some cameras. the first pic your on the wrong side of the back as the sun is on the other side so this side is in shadow. when panning you need to take the shot just as the launch (youve got to play the same gessing games as the drivers) and be prepard for a stiff neck by the end of the weekend. then you've got to practice practice practice. hope this helps a bit. have fun

Was shooting with the 20D. The track runs South to North, so pics in the early hours I'm facing the sun and in the afternoon (before the sun gets behind the stands) the sun is brutal from the west. Well then again, the sun is harsh in Las Vegas anytime.
Its pretty limited on where you can take shots from, unless you have one of those nice blue photo vests :) Thanks for the info, will practice the panning.

fair enough what appiture do you uses i tend to use 1/250 when Im not with a blue jacket but when im on the blues :D I tend to be a bit quicker 1/300 350 ish al least your not having the same problem we do when we shoot at shakey there is a white wall on one side and a the sun directly opposite always fun lol. for easy panning practice go down to the local motorway (some where safe) and try panning around the 1/200 1/150 ish mark good practice with out the risk of loosing decent pictures
