Pekka,

Would you be able to inlcude a field for a location's map grid reference?

In which grid reference system?
Is it only displayed, or used in some other way (link to some map service or...)?

I guess the system would be country-dependant. It would be the Ordnance Survey system in the UK (eg ND384542).

As for making it a clickable link, I suppose that could be an option as it is for locations already. Not every country's mapping system will have online maps. The UK fortunately does (eg the above reference would link to http://getamap.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/getamap/frames.htm?mapAction=gaz&gazName=g&gazString=ND384542).

Now this is an interesting topic. What about to first integrate the GPS data into the EXIF data of the picture via PhotoStudio from StuffWare:
http://www.stuffware.co.uk/articles/00000001.html
Maybe there is a way to use the GPS data from the picture to define the location on a system with online maps.

Otherwise this can be done with scanned paper maps, OziExplorer and the OziPhototool from http://oziphototool.alistairdickie.com/

What a great idea. Photograph GPS positioning !!

Have to be careful not only what photographs I take but where !

http://www.exif.org/Exif2-2.PDF page 112 seems to tell that EXIF 2.2. supports full GPS data set. Anyone has any images that contains GPS data?

I'm sure the next generation SLR's do GPS positioning as well - it would be very valuable in many areas, especially nature, outdoor sports, PJ.

The Nikon D1h and D1X already support this, and I'm sure the D2h will as well.. I know I'm probably the minority here with Nikon equipment :-p

You can plug a GPS unit into the camera and it'll automaticaly record the location data each time you take a picture.
