Hi there,

My Canon speedlite 550 EX (external flash) is stuck to the shoe on top of my 10D. It won't come off. Seems like one of the pins is stuck

Anyone off you have a clue how to resolve this?

This might work. If you can get ahold of a Feeler Gauge, try using thie thinnest one possible, and try and slide it underneath the flash. Maybe.:D:D

There's a little metal pin that sticks out when you turn the clamp knob. It's designed to hold the flash in place. Works well, huh? ;) This pin should retract when you loosen the clamp.

I'm not sure exactly how the mechanism works, but I'd bet the pin isn't retracting. Try loosening the clamp knob all the way and then turn the camera upside down and wiggle it. Maybe the pin has broken off the clamp knob and if you turn the camera/flash upside down and wiggle it gravity will cause the pin to retract.

EDIT:

Here's a picture of the mount detail. Part Y17-3083 is a spring for the pin. Maybe it's lost it's sprung...
