For those of you whom haven't had a chance to try the new Photoshop CS you are in for a real treat. Processing RAW is really great and the improvement in overall image quality is fantastic. I have gone back over some of my old raws from 6 months ago and the difference from FVU and C1 is daylight and dark. If you don't have CS, run don't walk to whereever you can get a copy. The activation is painless.

I suspect you might possibly be a shill for Adobe since you appear to live right there in their backyard, :) but in this case, you're absolutely right. I got my copy two days ago, and haven't really had time to get into it at all, but I did get a glimpse of the RAW converter, and it really does represent a significant savings in time. I'm most grateful for the fact that the interface is very much like PS 7, so the only 'stuff' I have to learn is the 'new stuff.'

I already have the RAW file support add-on for 7.0... so why else might I want to dump the $200 for the upgrade? Please enlighten me...
Thanks!

The shadow/highlight adjustment tool is worth the extra upgrade in itself let alone the RAW converter.
Cheers,

I've used them both, CS and PS7 Plug-in. Seems to be the same to me.

Nope I'm not even a real fan of Adobe and I would hope that C1 really has a superior product coming. I would dearly love to see a product like C1 produced for photographers without all the web and graphic artist stuff. But I must give credit where credit is due. The images from the new CS are far superior to any I have been able to coax out of the C1 - PS7 combination.

I think the 3 best new features are...
Significantly expanded 16-bit support.
Realtime histogram updates.
Greatly improved file browser / image preview including support for Canon RAW files (but not 300D - yet).

Wow. I did not know that. They must have just added support in the last week or so. Fantastic.

Openspace,
I would add to that list the Shadow/Highlight tool on the Image | Adjustments menu.
Wow, just found this and what can I say. This has already fixed some images I thought were beyond saving.
Cheers
