Which shot is better? (5 pics)

I took these today. He is 4 years old and a great subject. I just love his eyes. On these first two boses which is better. 1a. or 1b? 2a. or 2b? and then 3 is just for fun. CC welcome.

They seem a little dark to me?

I like the first pose the best - seems the most natural... Thats just me.

# 2 for me, seems crisper and better lit than the others. They are a bit on the dark side. Cute kid though!

ok I was looking more for is 1a better or worse the 1b.

and is 2a better or worse then 2b.

2a > 2b

Much more natural looking... a born model! I think the softness actually works for the shot.

2b seems as if there's somewhere to get up and goto.

1a and 2a. I think the others are a bit oversharpened? Try running a simple USM pass (or two). The softness in the a's is nice, but a little sharpening wouldn't hurt. :-)

1b and 2b just seem sharper to me.

2 and 3 are good as composition. Eyes may be focused better. Boy is so handsome. You should keep working with him. Thans for beautiful sharing.

the 4th and then get rid of the wrinkles int he back and lighten the background a bit

i'de say less fur next time. maybe a second strobe/flash for the background would help
