This is the shot that really got me into photography. I took it when I was 16 years old on a disposable of all things. That was 18 years ago. Wow! I think I used disposables for quite a while after that. I couldn't really afford anything else back then.
Does anyone else really have a defining shot that got them into the game?

Mine was a night time exposure of a factory reflected in a river using my avatar. Who knows where it is now? ;)

probably this one for me, inspired me to get a DSLR, while making me realise the limitations of my mums minolta Dimage.

This one, for the fact that I had the opportunity of a lifetime and all I had was a crumby camera and after my disappointment I said "ok....I need to get a GOOD camera. and I got a better one that I could afford and have been stepping up since that one 9 years ok.

Took this with a Ricoh KR-5 Super and telephoto lens I found in a box in my basement.

No particular photos, but rather, a sequence of them and an unforgettable experience. I got my "calling" to photography at Yellowstone.. click here (http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=172961&highlight=Yellowstone) for the photos :)

Probably this shot for me of Dunnottar Castle near Stonehaven taken on a Kodak DX3700 fully automatic P & S.
I shudder at my old gallery when I look at the technical quality of the images but 3 years ago when I started getting seriously interested and had zero control over things like aperture/shutterspeed/ISO, I had to get the shot purely with my eye using lighting and composition to make the image strong.
I sometimes take that camera out for a day and strip myself of bells and whistles to remind myself sometimes its' the photographer that takes the image, not the fancy equipment.
In two months time I step up a notch (or two...or three) and get a 1dMKIIN but will never forget the fun I had with that little camera.

I'll play I had originally fallen for photography in NYC, unfortunately those shots were taken with a 5mp kodak and I don't have them on my p.c. I truly fell in love and got an idea of composition during a week in Seattle on vacation with my family.. a few from there..it was very, very early days with the camera..

Lol @ Kona
I think Backscuttlers shot was quite well done! How long would it take you now to get as good exposure as that? Dark shadows, bright sky!? :)

I can still get blocked out shadows and blown skies.
At least now I know how to achieve it :p
