I am facing an interesting situation this weekend and am a little up in there air on what to expect.. I have heard of themed weddings.. but this will be a bit different to me.. and was wondering what others have encountered at such 'events'.. I have heard of Elvis, StarTrek, BDSM, Mt Bike/Backwoods, Disney, and other random show based wedding themes.. oh yeah and the cowboy western theme mentioned in this PTON forum.

This one literally is more than just a wedding though.. it is truely been turned into an 'event'. The theme being turned into an official http://www.sca.org/ event. Though I am told it will only be about 80-100 people, and I have never actually been to one of these 'events' before either so have no clue what to expect.

I have actually been asked to be the official photographer the full two day event, but only committed to the first day with the ceromony being in the middle of the first day.

Basically my long winded point being.. being this is a themed event.. from what I get many of the wedding 'formalities' and sequence of events will be somewhat unpredictable if they even happen.

How has everyone in the past delt with such events to make sure you capture the traditional wedding photos in the non-traditional settings where nothing may be predictable?

Christopher

P.S. They are legally also already married.. this is just the ceromony which adds an added twist I guess.

That sounds like it could yield some really interesting images. I would ask the couple what they want and go from there. It sounds like it might be best to shoot this PJ style.

This would be a great opportunity to tap into your creativity. I photographed a farmer's wedding this summer, and the theme was John Deere!
