I'll start - Washiington, D.C. today is going up to 101 with a 110 heat index. Cold front comes in tomorrow in the morning will cool us off to 90 as the high.

Don't know about the heat index, but it's only supposed to get up to 86 here today, because of thunderstorms. For the last week, though, it's been over 100 on a very regular basis. All of the air conditioners in the house on high (that's 6, just downstairs), and I'm still roasting.

I know. I have 2 zone air and thank heavens they both are going. But in DC they asked residents to conserve. I don't do laundry or dishes during the day. But our thermostat is at 78 and it hasn't gone below 80 all week going full blast in the afternoons. So, I hear ya! In upstate NY, 100 degree temperatures are rare and pretty bad. Enjoy the 80+ day.

Down here it is normally hotter then the NE but you guys are feeling it big time with this heat wave. We have had two straight weeks of mid 90's and today is supposed to be 97 with heat index of 105.

Last summer my family made the stupid choice to use our timeshare in Orlando the last week in July. We sufferred big time. I don't know how anyone can stand 90+ temperatures six months out of the year and the humidity at Disney World was just unbearable. NC is great if you live by the shore, but otherwise, it's hot like DC. Remember, DC was built on a large piece of swamp land. With all the stone and hot roads, it never cools down in the night. Our nightime temps have been over 90.

100 is the forecast high today for our area, but thats pretty typical summer weather here.
I don't care about the heat. Its the total and complete lack of rain that bothers me. :(

Here in South Jersey (just outside of Philly) we are looking at a high of 98 with heat index of 110.

Here in Miami, our summers are not so hot, they are just long- we will get up to 91 today, about normal from march to november!

It's only going to be around 100 degrees here today. Two weeks ago it hit 118 degrees. They say it's a dry heat, but call it what you want, it's bloody HOT !!

"Nice" +15c and rain for 4th day in a row here in Slovenia. And this is suppose to be summer?

We had brutal heat about a week and a half ago; something like 12 days straight of triple-digit temperatures.
Today, though, it's only supposed to get up to around 84 degrees.
I can dig that...

I was wondering when the southern hemisphere people would come in and complain about the cold. :) I dropped my good friends off at the airport yesterday for their 1 month stay in UT. They are happy. It's only 85 there. I can stand 80 degrees with no humidity.

I'm in Baltimore which is close to DC and we are feeling the heat and humidity as well. I went to the Farmer's Market today and there was a nice breeze blowing. I have my thermostat set at 72, but it hasn't gone below 78. Then I realized, stupid, that I should've closed my blinds.

I have all blinds closed, rooms without use have doors closed-vents closed, fans blowing where I'm sitting or working. It's just hot! Went to Friday's for lunch today and it was 65 in there. Felt great.

I have the programmable thermostat set to 78 during the say when noone is home and 75 when we are home. It has lowered my bills by almost 50% compared to last year.

86 degrees with strong storms forecast. The humidity is also 84%, so it's kind of like being in a sauna.

It was so humid in DC yesterday, I was at the airport and I could hardly see the Washington Monument. That's really bad.

Man, seems like the east is going through some mad heatwave like us Californians did last week.
It calmed down here in Northern California and is only in the 70s :)

Today about 20 C (68 F) and lots of rain, the whole day long!
We had a heat wave here which lasted about two weeks and which ended last Monday. A heat wave here means temperatures above 25 C (77 F), and three days with temperatures above 30 C (86 F). On the hottest day it was about 36 C (97 F) which is exceptionally hot for The Netherlands.
F = 9/5 x C + 32
C = (F - 32) x 5 / 9

Uh, Suzy....we need to give you a short course in NC geography....The cool part of the state is a long way from any ocean...about 5 hours away...on a good day. NC has 3 distinct regions....the coastal plain, the piedmont and the mountains...for cool and low humidity on most days...the mountains are the place to be. Feels like 84 here...Charlotte (piedmont) feels like 101 and Atlantic Beach (coastal) feels like 103...I think I know where I am going to be...

cloudless blue sky and 11*C at the moment. Looking forward to the 24*C as tina said. August in Brissie is windy weather time. Lazy wind - goes trough you not around you. Local show (State Fair etc etc) is due to start later this week. Yay Ekka time. It just can't be Ekka time without strong westerly winds.

Today we landed in Prescott, Arizona where I have 4 days of pre-wedding and wedding activities to shoot. It is 86 degrees here... a deep freeze compared to the 112 temps we had back home a week ago.
Sunday we head out to the Grand Canyon where I am sure it will be a bit warmer.

Lets see.... Dallas/Ft. Worth average high temperture of July was 98.4, average low was 77.0. Every day in July was over 90 degrees, with 15 of the 31 days in July over 100 (these do not include heat index numbers which add approx 5-8 degrees to the temperture).
The 5 day weather forcast is
Thursday 101 / 79
Friday 101/79
Saturday 100/80
Sunday 100/80
Monday 99/89
(Pretty normal forecast for this time of year)
We've had very little rain down here in Dallas. Electricity isn't a problem as Texas has its own power grid, while the rest of the country shares the other 2 major power grids. Texans tolerate the heat pretty well, all considering, as 100 degree days are a fact of life. We like to snicker at the national news reports and interviews of you guys up north when temps reach into the upper nineties and heaven forbid, top 100 degrees.
Now what is funny is when the winter comes and that white stuff (forget what its called) falls just a teensy bit, its like armageddon. There's runs on water and food at the grocery stores, schools start shutting down, and business close. The drivers brave enough to go out don't know how to cope with it and start wrecking into each other. Religious groups start sacrificing small animals to the gods for protection. Its total chaos. So, all you northerners, stay out of Texas when it snows 1/2 to 1 inch as its not a pretty sight lol :)

That's funny! We don't even close school early in near blizzard conditions.

An absolutely great 96 F. I just sat on the deck with a cold brew and a decent cigar. Awesome!
This was after at least 15-20 days over 100.

I couldn't stand to cook tonight. Yesterday, making fried chicken, the temperature in my house went up 2 degrees. So, I e-mailed my husband and he was game. We had Mexican and it was nice and cool in the restaurant. Came home to a nice 80 degree house, but all good. Didn't have to cook and it looks like ice cream for dessert. :)

It hit 97 today, same as yesterday. What's distressing about this is that it's 8:30 PM and it's still 92. Humidity is a bit high, but not horrible.
Too hot.

We are in the middle of a cold front. 74 and sunny. It has recently, however, been consistently 97+. We really need the relief. Along with the heat was a drought. We only got .02 in of rain the entire month of July. Then 2 days ago we got 6 in a matter of hours.
