i've gone though the accessories & storage forum and found many suggestions. but i'm wondering what do you guys carry when you are shooting a wedding?

i suppose i'll need a bag that is easy to use and will carry the following:

30D + grip, 17-55mm, 70-200mm, 50mm, 85mm (perhaps), 430EX, lightsphere, batteries, CF cards, and other nicnaks...

right now i only have 1 lens.. but plan on getting the other lens later this year. so, which ones do you use?

I use a LowePro rolling backpack - ie has shoulder straps and recessed wheels. I never use the wheels. It holds two 20Ds, Tamron 28-75 (on one camera), 100mm macro, 12-24, 70-200 F2.8 IS, 50mm F1.4, 550ex, 580ex, tiny diffuser, and all the accessories I take (no lightsphere). Sometimes I put a lens and some diffusers in another lowepro bag, with flash bracket and drinks/food. I usually lug the big bag around and leave it somewhere near me, but I carry both bodies on me.

I bought and returned a lot of bags and finally ended up with the Lowepro Nova 5AW. The Lowepro Magnum is also nice if you need more space. You should probably go to a large camera store and try one out that fits you and your style of travel and packing...you might not like shoulder bags. I will usually bring my Nova 5 (or smaller) for the camera and lens, and a large duffle bag for the tripod, lightstands, and less fragile stuff. When flying, the large duffle (if needed) gets checked in, while the Lowepro comes with me.

I have a backpack style bag (Lowepro Computrekker AW) that will hold my gear. It's great when going from place to place but not very convenient otherwise. The problem is the way it opens and how you have to lay it down (on the straps) to fully open it. If I have to open it up and the ground is wet or dirty...it can be rather cumbersome...especially if I already have a camera & flash in my hand or around my neck etc.

I find it much more convenient to use my top opening bags. I can set them down in any sort of dirt & muck and only get the bottom dirty. When I need to carry it around, it's not as comfortable as the backpack, but I can get into it with only one hand.

I have been thinking about getting a plastic tool box and some foam and making something like a poor-man's Pelican case. The company I work for has a 'Foam' division and they make great case inserts for all sorts of equipment. When I finally get my dream kit, I might get a custom insert made up so that it will hold the gear perfectly.

I use a Computrekker too - but the way I work is I get my 2 cameras out, and put a few batteries and CF cards in my pockets and stash my bag somewhere safe. I never carry it around with me - it's a bit of a hinderance having a big back pack on in the middle of a wedding party.

how about SlingShot 200 AW? one of the reason why i thought about the side shoulder type of bag is because i can only imagine that when ur running around in a wedding, you don't have time to take off the backpack type to get your gear.

Any one uses bags like slingshot or the toploader for wedding?

I shoot events and Jon (the Moderator here) suggested I get a little caddy thing from Samsoniite for $20. There is an outlet here at Potomic Mills so I went over and found one. It helps me get EVERYTHING I am taking to the shoot in one trip from car to my little staging area. I also have a NOVA 5AW, Velocity 9, and I had a Minitrekker. I had to take all those bags with stand bag with umbrellas, etc. All in one trip is pretty good.

i have that too, but now that I have the wedding thing down, I really don't need it too much.

I'm hoping not to have any big events this coming year. I'm tired of all the craziness, but I'm doing more at home.

Bag doesn't matter because it is staying in the corner. Get a suit with 2 large pockets for lenses. ;)

Amen to "the bag Doesn't matter". A suit with pockets is the best thing for weddings ,you can hold alot gear in those huge pockets. I use the 2 outside pockets for lenses and the little inside chest pocket for spare batteries and cf cards! works real well. I use a habuka rolling bag to get my gear to the event and stash it somewhere safe.

I carry two cameras, one with a short zoom (24-70) and a long zoom (70-200) for 95% of all shots. In a small waist bag I carry a 580EX flash, memory and extra batteries. Sometimes I add to the bag either my 50 1.4 for low light or the 10-22 for wide angle depending on what stage of the wedding I'm in. For me to do good work, I believe in the theory of less is more. I find it is best to have what I need on me and not off in the corner where it can walk off.

Prodominantly working on my own, I had to do away with the camera bag. I am more likely to put it down and walk away, and it might not be there when I come back. I took to a Lowepro S&F deluxe waist belt. On the belt I carry: AA batteries for the 580EX flash, CF cards, a canon ef-s 18-55 f2.8 Lens, a canon ef-s 10-22mm lens, a first aid kit, spare camera batteries, a flash diffuser, and a lens cloth, all in various lowepro pouches. The camera (20D with ef-s 17-85) + flash is permanently in my hand.

Upside is everything I need is on my body at my fingertips. (Except the backup camera would require a quick dash to the car). Downside is I look like Lara Croft. But is that such a bad thing..........
