Random thumbs instead of microthumbs???

Does anyone know how to display random thumbs instead of microthumbs on the gallery index page?

Also, what about displaying the thumbs to the side of the exhibition text like Pekka's D30 & G1 Galleries at http://photography-on-the.net/gallery/.

what you see when you go to his links are random thumbs selected for exhibition GROUPS... not individual exhibitions... if you go into one of those groups, the microthumbs are still below the galleries.
