Microdrive help needed!

I bout a $36 dollar seagate 4GB micro drive on ebay. It is brand new but says on it "for embeded aplications only" I put it in my camera and I get a CF err, I formated it in my pc and I still get the CF err... I formated it in camera and I get the same thing.. well, actualy it wont format and it says err 99 :rolleyes:


So whats going on here?

It sounds like you've bought one of the microdrives that are meant for mp3 players and such. Their chipsets are different to where they won't work in a digital camera. I'd get in touch with the seller to see if you can get your money back ASAP.

If it says "for embedded applications only" it cannot be used as a regular microdrive. this is to prevent people from buying low cost products that include memory (like mp3 players) and cannibalizing them for the drives to be used for other purposes.

fyi, two weeks ago I bought a "real" 4GB Hitachi microdrive from Circuit City. With price matching and rebates they had that week, the effective price I paid dropped from $149 down to $39.
