G2 firmware upgrade & Win XP

I have tried unsuccessfully to upgrade my G2 firmware using the "uploadfirmware.exe" method and failed (I don't particularly want to buy a card reader)

Has anyone else had problems using the download?

Hi Gordon,

This won't be what you want to hear but I had no problems whatsoever with the firmware upgrade on my Win XP Pro system.

I went to the Canon (Japan) site and simply followed their instructions - worked first time.
