Hi a friend of mine has asked me to take there wedding pics for them this is my gear i will be using for it !!! oops!
cant say no really
i forgot to mention a friend told me this sort of kit covers you for most things i had the money so i thought what the hell
Canon 30D
Sigma 24-70 F2.8 EX DG
Sigma 70-200 F2.8 EX HSM
SPEEDLITE 580 EX and a diffusser (loads of batteries)
canon flash bracket
5 gig of CF
please give me some advice on the best way with this kit to be safe and not sorry many thanks ?

That looks like a great kit...but to "be safe and not sorry", you will need a backup camera & a backup flash. If you are using the flash on a bracket, you will need an off shoe cord...and probably two backup cords because they tend to break on you.
Don't forget extra batteries for the camera.
So if you just bought all this stuff, what did you have before? What sort of experience do you have?

Hi thanks before this camera which i bought only a short while ago i had a Minolta Dynax 5xi i bought in 1992 with the 28-80 xi lens and a Sigma APO 70-300mm Macro lens which i used for just about everything except weddings still got the camera and lenses so i thought i'd try and match it best i could and carry on as normal i guess the trouble is you mension to a friend that you have a new camera and thats it!! can you, can you, can you, if you wouldn't mind !!!!!!

If you believe you can do it, then it's worth it. Just be aware if you are at all worried about your skill level, put them off as much as you can :-)
I've completed a few successful weddings but still advise couples who ask me to get a pro. I'll do it as a last resort (even although I love it). I just would not like the responsibility on my head of screwing up. My last wedding was on a bright very sunny day...... Had trouble with shadows and flash all day and just managed to get the job done. this has sort of put me off the idea of wedding photography a bit.
I need to learn more.
