Heres some of what I shot today. No credentials, so all shot from spectator areas.

The action got off to a late start today: one of the jet blowers went out before the first practice of the day to blow any dirt/debris off the track..... he ran out of gas 3/4 of the way around...... Because he was leaking it: ALL OVER THE TRACK!!
Oops. So it took them about 1hr30min to clean up the mess. Lets hope tomorrow goes a little bit better.

Anyway here are some shots:

Is it me or are the images manipulated via photoshop or photoshopesque program?

The "motion blur" does not appear real and the cycles on some pics appear pasted in. Is it just me?

Looks fine to me. PS of course ( who doesnt these days its a tool) Anyways I should be at VIR and Road Atl for the AMA Races cant wait! How hard was that 300 to use ? Alot of cropping or was it ok ?

Hehe, well they are manipulated in photoshop, but ONLY with auto-color/auto-levels/auto-contrast and some cropping here and there.

All of the blur is panning/uber-slow shutterspeed. And I wish I was good enough @ PS to "paste" in cycles and have it look reasonably good.;)

I don't know exactly what it is you are seeing, but maybe the compression is affecting the images? I don't know. The EXIF should be still intact if you want to view the camera settings.:)

The 300 was great. I've only used it for three events now so I'm still getting used to it. Most of the shots I posted here were cropped alittle, a few were cropped quite a bit. The lens would be perfect if I had credentials, but at Mid-Ohio there are only a few places for spectators to get shots w/o fencing, and a few spots where spectators can shoot through the "photo-holes" designed for the pro's from our side of the fence if you have the reach. The 300 has enough reach for those instances, but I still catch the fencing around the "photo-holes" on the outside edge of the frame so I am forced to crop a little.

The IS is nice as well. All in all I'd recommend it.:)

The curbing was throwing me off a bit, they look very crisp with a defined line for the amount of associated blur.

It's my crappy laptop monitor than, the coloring sucks on it.

I like 7 the best, I'm a fan of the close up, though people like to remind photogs that you didn't get the whole vehicle in frame. I'm not sure where that false standard for quality came from. Asymmetry is your friend. :)

Awesome shot of Disalvo! The rest of them appear a little soft, either a slightly faster shutter speed or a bit better panning motion. Keep it up!
