The head arrived more than a week ago.

It's really nice. I especially love those knobs. They're so beautifully done. The panning base is really sweet too.

So today it was united with it's long lost legs!

Boom!

Love at first sight. Both me and them. Hehe

I can't wait for a good chance to make use of it. Does anyone have any good bag recommendations? I saw some leg wraps too in the POTn store but theyre not available yet - I'll probably wait for those. Someone suggested a baseball bat bag, I might do that if I can't find any good alternates.

Love it so far. It was a bit pricy but I guess it's one of those ' get what you pay for ' things.. Plus I'm going to be doing photoshoots..

Oh. And of course: thanks for all the help and advice from everyone!! Couldn't (and wouldn't) have done it without ya!

Next up: 70-200 IS. Hehe.

The head is a couple pounds and the legs are a little over 4. I think 6 or 7 pounds total..

Good excuse to start working out I guess. Heh.

Well I'm only 16 not 60 so I think I can handle it :)

I recently acquired a 1325 and BH-55 LR too (along with a set of RRS plates) ... I'm extremely happy with them (which I would hope to be, given the $$). The BH-55 really is a work of art, and I know what you mean about the knobs.

I haven't had that much fun playing with a knob since I was 15 :D

sweet. I'm very fond of my acratech, but I had a chance to touch the RRS-55 recently and can see that it's a cut above.

bag: folding nylon deck chairs come with carry bags that work really well for the tripod, about $15 and you get a free chair. like this (http://foresitesports.com/nylon_folding_chairs_jlpc001.htm)

The BH-40 has arrived and is super sweet - have not had a chance to really use ot yet though. Now need to save for the legs!!! :)

Hakuba makes a nice set of legs that are somewhat less pricey than the Gitzo, but the Gitzo are great.

Those knobs seem a little small to get your fingers into to adjust. How is it to tighten and loosen those knobs?

You guys with the BH-55 how are your tension and panning knobs in respect of finish? With the one I've got the knobs work great but their finish isn't that great. Or at least not as great as the price would suggest - there's ever slight burring/ragged edges on mine, it just doesn't have the clean finish I would have expected.

Overall Ive found my head (hehe the RRS one, the other one too though hopefully) to be of very great quality.

The legs are nice too, though I'm still getting used to the twisties.
