I like the B&W treatment of the image, but the wrod 'Elvis' looks a bit 'blown-out' in the B&W compared to the colour one.
At first I thought one of the guys was meant to look like Elvis ??? until I saw the colour pic and the word was more visible :-)

I agree on the B&W... I think if you put the color Elvis lettering back in the B&W you'll have an awesome image!

OK, so here's where I stick my size 11 in it:oops:
Some 35 years ago when I was last into photography as a hobby it was basically all B/W. More a cost consideration than art! Had me own dark room with a Durst enlarger and used to by bulk film and decant it. The only colour we did was slide and at that time they brought out a reverse print process to take colour prints from the slides, that was fun!
Now to the digital age and for a while, being a noob to this all over again I have been finding it hard to figure out why sooo many are keen to convert their lovely colour images to B/W. Suddenly with your photo the penny has dropped. Forget the colour but look at the scene, the colour version is just a picture but the B/W (even with the blown out bit) is just so much more intense.
Blimey, I think me blood sugar must be getting low;)

Ditto...the b&w intensives the subjects. Well done.

I think the guy sat down looks more like Bob Dylan myself and he is clearly missing a market opportunity by trying to sell himself as Elvis ;)
Anyway, I agree with all you lads about the B&W and Elvis sign but I can't be bothered going back and fine-tuning the shot at the mo'. The info is there, it is just how I did the conversion. I might dig out another one I took of these tow and have a go if I get time later.

  Keep taking the tablets son, but there is much sense in what you say. B&W for me can act as a filter to what is superfluous in a shot and so focuses attention much more on what matters. Here it is the tension between the two figures. There is something going on between them. The guy on the right is too close and the little guy is not looking at him. There is some aggression there, but implied rather than overt.

agree with the black and whites... I love them but in general pretty dissatisfied with my results thus far... black and white allows the composition to really come alive for you.. provided that the composition can support a photo without those splashes of color to entertain you with... (end my rant)..
I really like this shot.. the gentlemen sitting has this whole body language that speaks to you and the gentlemen standing over him makes you think that there's some kind of aggression going on.. a story is being told.. makes you wonder what happens next..

Ok lads and ladies, I finally got around to sorting the B&W and the blown out Elvis on the guys bag. I left the original so you can see how much that lack of detail at the time spoilt it ;-)

Well, if you want to concentrate on lines and shapes, B&W, or if you want a "like being there" feel, go color. That's how I usually look at it. Ofcourse, that doesn't apply to everything.
Also, I like the Black and white one better.
