I wouldn't want to be without my grip. I use my 20D with big L zooms, and the camear is so much better balanced with the grip. The portrait mode controls are nice, too.

Your lenses are lighter than mine - but it may still be worthwhile.

I have it and don't use it. Got it with the camera when they first came out but the false low-battery problem was such a PITA that I never used it. When they released the fix I had it done, but I was out of the habit by then.

Answer yes to any of these two questions and you should consider the grip. if not, you'll live without it and it will become a luxary item.

Do you think you can go without a grip and just carry extra batteries to swap out?
Are you comfortable holding the camera to take portraits right now?

Are you comfortable holding the camera to take portraits right now?First question wqould require a "no" to be a compelling reason for the grip. I carry spare batteries all the time. So I swap them once a day, maybe twice if I've been using IS and doing a lot of panning tracking aircraft. You can always change battery along with the card and never worry.
